Where a hard hat and connected breathing air are required, coordinating protection and hose routing is part of working comfort. The 3M Speedglas 9100 MP 27-5702-00SW helmet is the supplied air version of the 9100 MP. It combines head protection, a flip-up welding shield and a clear grinding visor, and receives breathable air through the V-100 cooling valve worn on the TR-326 belt. The V-199 adapter, V-112 pad and SG-30W breathing tube are included. 3M intends it in particular for construction, oil and gas, mining and transportation, where a safety helmet is required in addition to the welding helmet. The welding filter, breathable air supply and supply hose are not included.
On a site requiring a hard hat, preparing the workstation involves more than selecting a welding filter. The 9100 MP combines a hard top, flip-up welding shield and clear visor so these protections occupy coordinated positions around the head. The clear visor allows preparation or inspection with the welding shield raised.
This configuration receives air through the belt-mounted V-100 cooling valve. The welder gains local thermal adjustment within a correctly supplied air system. Air circulation does not depend on an Adflo battery pack; movement is instead tied to routing of the supply hose.
Optical-filter selection remains separate, allowing the headpiece to be equipped for the team's processes. The configuration includes the stated valve and connection components but does not replace preparation of breathing air and selection of an authorised supply hose. Any added hearing protection must also suit the assembly and workstation noise.
The configuration targets construction, oil and gas, transportation, mining, general manufacturing, industrial maintenance and heavy infrastructure. It is used on piping sites where a breathable air network is already installed, in mining equipment repair in underground shops and in refinery maintenance during planned shutdowns. The welder can weld, tack, grind and perform mechanical assembly without changing equipment.
Do not use the helmet for laser welding, processes requiring shade 14 or higher, or heavy-duty overhead welding where molten metal may fall. Operate the welding filter only between -5 and +55 °C. The V-100 valve does not produce air; it must be connected to a breathable air supply and a supply hose approved for the configuration. Without an installed welding filter, the shield does not protect against arc radiation. Do not use this configuration in oxygen-rich or oxygen-deficient atmospheres, unknown contaminant concentrations or conditions immediately dangerous to life or health.

Sold separately: welding filter, breathable air supply and air supply hose.
3M states a protection factor of 25 for this configuration used with an approved supplied air system. The program must ensure the quality of the supplied air, the compatibility of the hose and supply with the V-100 valve, welder training and checks before each use. 3M welding respirators and respirator accessories group the parts related to this type of system.
9100 MP platform, model 27-5702-00SW, polycarbonate (PC) head-protection shell, side windows, flip-up shield and clear visor. Processes once equipped: arc welding, MIG/MAG, TIG above 1 A, plasma and tack welding. V-100 valve, V-199 adapter, V-112 pad, TR-326 belt, SG-30W tube. Packed weight: 8.461 lb / 3.838 kg. The documented configuration meets ANSI Z89.1-2009 type I class G and ANSI Z87.1-2010; the welding filter is sold separately.
First plan supply-hose routing for the expected changes of position and movement. Check couplings and the supply conditions required for the V-100 valve. A compressed-air network must not automatically be treated as a breathing-air supply.
Then adjust the helmet and face seal with the site's other PPE. Install the approved welding filter and verify secure retention when the shield is raised and lowered. The clear visor must be unobstructed before grinding. If a hose is damaged or the supply no longer meets required conditions, stop use according to the system procedure rather than relying on the welding filter alone to continue working.
3M recommends replacing the helmet shell no later than 3 years after its manufacture date, including both storage and use. Replace it sooner if damaged or subjected to a severe impact, even without visible damage. Before each use, inspect the head protection, shield, visor, V-100 valve, SG-30W tube and belt; check the connection to the air supply according to the 3M instructions. A punctured tube, damaged fitting or cracked shell requires replacement. Clean the shell without solvents and store the kit, with the tube not kinked, away from heat and spatter.
No. The helmet is sold without a welding filter; install a 9100 series filter and its plates before welding.
Yes. The V-100 valve connects to an approved breathable air supply and supply hose, sold separately.
Yes. The configuration documented by 3M meets ANSI Z89.1-2009 type I class G.
Yes. Raise the welding shield and work behind the clear visor.
No. The supply must provide breathing air and meet 3M conditions for the valve, couplings and authorised hose. V-100 is not a filter that converts workshop compressed air into breathing air. Have the installation specified before use.
To equip the work area for this configuration, protect the eyes during tasks away from the welding arc with eyewear (YAU2500); protect the hands while handling cool parts with gloves (G132); provide hearing protection after checking fit with the helmet with earmuff (OPH10B); mark access routes around the work area with marking (ECT3RE9); mark access routes around the work area with marking (ECT3YE7).
For maintenance of this configuration, select the components corresponding to the parts being replaced: component (R27-0099-52) 3M Speedglas Pivot Kit for 9100 MP Welding Helmet, sleeve (RSG15) hose sleeve. For this configuration, check the model on the worn part before servicing; parts from other series are not interchangeable by default. To compare this configuration with other assemblies, also review variant (RG5-01V), solution (R37-1101-00SW), model (R37-1101-30iSW-CA). Compare their contents with this configuration; the parts are not presumed interchangeable.
