This product is designed to detect carbon monoxide, a clear, inodorous toxic gas. Carbon monoxide is generally released by cooking or heating devices and by automobiles. This detector can measure concentrations between 30 and 999 parts per million (PPM). Concentrations above 100 PPM are considered high and can be hazardous. For these reasons, it is recommended to immediately take action and find and close any source of CO as soon as concentrations excel 30 PPM.
No returnable if used. For more information about our return policy, please refer to the Orders and Returns.
This Carbon Monoxide detector provides essential protection against "the silent killer." Designed to be plugged directly into a standard 120V wall outlet, it features a digital display that shows current CO levels in parts per million (PPM). This allows for monitoring even low levels of gas that haven't yet reached the alarm threshold but may still be concerning.
Kidde digital CO (carbon monoxide) detector. Powered by a wall plug for 120 V AC. Includes a back-up 9 V battery.
Meets UL and CSA. Easy to install. Fully autonomous, no wiring required.
An 85 dB alarm will ring in the following time limits:
70 PPM CO : between 60 and 240 minutes;
150 PPM CO : between 10 and 50 minutes;
400 PPM CO : between 4 and 15 minutes.
CO levels are continuously displayed on the digital screen, even if the levels are below those necessary to start the alarm. The detector will save the highest CO level measured since it was last turned on or reset. This level can be recalled by pressing a button.
Kidde strongly recommends that each habitation have at least one CO detector installed close to sleeping areas. Consult the installation manual to identify the best sites for installation.
This detector works at temperatures between 4.4 ºC (40 ºF) and 37,8 ºC (100 ºF), and at relative humidity levels between 10% et 95%.

This model is a vital safety addition for homes with fuel-burning appliances (gas, oil, wood):
Real-Time Digital Display: Shows the exact concentration of CO in the air. It also features a "Peak Level Memory" to show the highest CO level recorded since the last reset.
120V Plug-In Design: Plugs directly into any standard outlet. It also includes an extension cord (depending on specific model version) for table-top placement to ensure the display is at eye level.
9V Battery Backup: Ensures the unit remains fully functional during power outages, providing continuous protection when heating systems might be malfunctioning.
Electrochemical Sensor: Uses the most accurate sensing technology available for detecting carbon monoxide gas.
Multiple Warning Signals: Provides a loud 85-decibel pulsing alarm when dangerous levels are detected, accompanied by a flashing red LED.
Power Source: 120V AC (Standard Plug).
Backup Power: 9V Alkaline Battery (included).
Sensor Type: Electrochemical.
Alarm Volume: 85 dB at 10 feet.
Display Range: 30 PPM to 999 PPM.
Certifications: CSA and/or UL/ULC certified for Canadian and US safety standards.
Operating Temperature: 4.4°C (40°F) to 37.8°C (100°F).
Strategic Placement: Install near sleeping areas. Unlike smoke, CO mixes evenly with air, so the detector can be placed at any height; however, eye-level placement makes reading the digital display easier.
Avoid Obstructions: Do not plug the unit into an outlet controlled by a wall switch or behind heavy curtains/furniture that could block airflow.
The "Peak" Function: Use the peak level button periodically to check if any CO was detected while you were away or asleep.
Usually, the display remains blank or shows "0" if no CO is detected. It will only display a numerical value once it senses 30 PPM or higher.
Most CO detectors have a lifespan of 7 to 10 years. The unit will typically chirp or display an "End" code when the sensor has reached the end of its life.
The Silent Killer: Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. A digital detector is the only way to know it is present before physical symptoms (headaches, dizziness, nausea) occur.
Maintenance: Test the unit weekly using the Test/Reset button and replace the 9V backup battery every year (unless it is a 10-year sealed backup model).
Emergency Protocol: If the alarm sounds, immediately move to fresh air outdoors and call 911. Do not re-enter the premises until emergency responders have cleared the building.
